Grading at Badshot Lea Equestrian Centre

We have Grading Standards for pupils to work towards

There are 2 sections: Riding & Stable Management

These are the riding assessments:

Grade 1 - Walk and trot off the lunge with an independent hand.

Grade 2 - Walk and trot in arena, over trotting poles; understand safety when riding outside the arena and on the road.

Grade 3 - Walk, trot and beginning to canter and able to work in open order in walk.

Grade 4 - Walk, trot and canter on any pony/horse and able to work in open order in walk and trot.

Grade 5 - Jumping 2' to 2'3", starting lateral work and starting to ride cross country around fields and undulating areas.

Grade 6 - Jumping 2'6" to 2'9" and starting to work pony/horse in an outline.

Grade 7 - Preliminary and Novice dressage and 2'9" to 3' jumping.

Grade 8 - Medium dressage and affiliated show jumping (British Novice and Discovery).
