Grading at Badshot Lea Equestrian Centre

We have Grading Standards for pupils to work towards

There are 2 sections: Riding & Stable Management

These are the Stable Management assessments:

Grade 1 - Lead pony/horse in and out of school. Run stirrups up and loosen girth. Basic knowledge of tack and points of the horse.

Grade 2 - Checking girth before mounting. Leading pony/horse up to mounting block. Parts of the saddle and bridle and points of the horse.

Grade 3 - Checking and adjusting girth. Mounting from block and ground. Adjusting stirrups correctly. Un-tacking and putting on a head collar and tying up.

Grade 4 - Tacking up. Some knowledge of correct fitting of tack and basic difference in bits and accessories.
