Want to make peace? Can you see both sides to each story? Become a Mediator! If you are a good communicator, a good listener and have an interest in helping people to resolve a dispute with their neighbour without recourse to the legal process or the “Neighbours from Hell” approach, you may be interested in joining our team of volunteer mediators. Mediators are fully trained (generally over 3 - 4 weekends spread over 3 months) and work in pairs. They help concerned residents reach an amicable solution to their neighbour problems. The largest areas for concern are noise, antisocial behaviour and boundary disputes. You will need your own transport and should preferably be available for mediation work at various times. The work is varied, challenging and incredibly rewarding and we would like the opportunity to tell you more about it. Work load can be adapted to your availability and expenses are paid. Application form and role description are available below to download. You can save these Microsoft Word documents to disk by right-clicking on the link and 'save target as' to your PC. Then complete the details and email it as an attachment or return by post. It should be noted that a police check (which requires various evidence such as passport, driving license etc) will be sought and a recent passport-sized photo is required, or can be taken by us at interview stage. Since your training is paid for, we do require a commitment to the service for at least 2 years as a volunteer.
