Editorial for Equi-Ads magazine July 2000:

Unpredictable weather conditions these past few months put Silvermere Equestrian Centre’s all-weather surfaced arena to the test. It really came into its own, allowing functions to continue, using the large arena, despite the wet ground. Friday evening show jumping competitions, especially, benefited from the all-weather capabilities. When the sun shone, spectators and entrants sat around the beautiful competition grounds together, watching with excitement and creating loud enthusiastic applause. Plenty of entrants qualified amongst an atmosphere of great camaraderie. Over the weeks, varied amounts of people attended the qualifiers with riders always encouraged to ‘have a go’. The £100 stake was up for grabs at the finals and BBQ on 30th June. Results will be published on www.silvermere-equestrian.co.uk.

The Sunday dressage competitions have been well attended and lucky with the weather, with the prospect of qualifying making them very exciting. Elly Hierons, Owner, is pleased with the way they have run smoothly and to time. Sam Forrest riding Wendover Girl cleaned up, winning both classes in this first Annual Spring Series for the Olympic Star prelim and novice trophies. Rosettes also went to 6th place in both classes at these finals held on 25th June.

Looking forward, Silvermere Equestrian will be concentrating on more competitions and clinics in all disciplines. These include a lecture on horse physiotherapy on Fri 14 July, Summer Camp from 31st July, Grand Summer Dressage on Sun 6 August, Show Jumping on Sat 16 Sept and the Annual Open Show on Sun 15 October.

Editorial for Equi-Ads magazine February 2000:

Daring horseback pantomime at Silvermere Equestrian Centre in Cobham, Surrey went ahead despite rainy weather on the day. Elly Hierons was delighted with the turnout, saying "The hot mulled wine went down a treat as you can imagine!" Heavy rain throughout the performance didn’t quash the enthusiasm of participants and spectators alike. "My request to put down umbrellas which could have worried the horses was greeted with only shrugs and smiles. Amazing!"

Since the centre opened early in 1999 they have been busy with competitions, camps and clinics. "I’d like to say a big thank you to all our customers and supporters – not to mention our super horses and ponies. It’s been a great start for the centre and I’m really looking forward to celebrating our first anniversary this Spring." So what’s on offer for 2000? "We are continuing our regular instruction from on-site professionals as well as specialist clinics in disciplines such as show jumping and dressage which have been really well received. I’d like to encourage more adult group lessons, which can be good fun as well as an excellent learning medium. Of course, we will carry on maturing the landscaped water course and grounds to provide secure but exciting riding for our clients. Most of all, though, we want to help people improve their riding standards whilst still enjoying themselves"

Press Release October 1999:
Faithful Riding School Horse Honoured

A faithful riding school horse who sadly passed away last year was honoured at Silvermere Equestrian Centre’s 1st Annual Open Show on Sunday October 17th. The "Cassie Novice Jumping Trophy" was competed for in her memory. According to owner Elly Hierons "She was a real confidence-giver and looked after novices instinctively well". Similar trophies were awarded for Open Jumping and Working Hunter Championship. Elly was pleased with how the event had gone, saying "It was a fantastic day, with a good turnout and great weather for the BBQ. Starting off the day enthusiastically were spruced up competitors for Condition & Turnout in one of 4 rings. It was lovely that new visitors admired the top of the range fencing and well maintained pasture. They were keen to know about future events like our show jumping and dressage clinics.

Editorial for Equi-Ads magazine August 1999:
A local equestrian centre has views to improving standards of riding across all levels and age groups. Recently under the management of newly married Elly Hierons (was Anstis), Silvermere Equestrian Centre offers excellent opportunities for competitions, events and tuition. Elly is delighted that all her customers opted to move with her to the new premises – not a feat many businesses could boast.

Recent clinics have included dressage as well as show jumping with Ernest Dillon (FBHS International Show Jumping Coach). The current calendar includes an all-classes Open Show on 17th October for kids and adults, including show jumping, showing classes and gymkhana. Throughout the year there are separate kids and adults group lessons leading to certification at levels 1-4.

The extensive grounds of Silvermere Equestrian Centre include a full indoor livery yard and riders can take a hack in the extensive grounds, which are being developed to form a landscaped water course. Ernest Dillon favours the state of the art rubber surface of the International sized arena because it has many plus points over the more traditional sand school, amongst which are that it is cleaner and it acts as a vital shock-absorber for horses’ legs, particularly when jumping.

With the superior facilities, International name clinics and high standards of teaching, Elly is anticipating being able to help all standards of rider improve their own standards measurably, whilst still having fun.

Press Statement May 1999:
Re: Redhill Road to Remain Closed

Elly Anstis, new Manager of Silvermere Equestrian Centre, joins the celebrations at the news that Redhill Road will remain closed at the junction with the A3. Riding Gemma, with Cathy leading Arnie (commonly called Spot, for obvious reasons!), and Marian with Dora the dog, Elly expresses her thoughts thus:

"I am delighted at the news that Redhill Road is to stay shut. It means it is safer for people to ride here, especially for kids. We have only recently taken over Silvermere Equestrian Centre after a long time of it not being used at all so it is a great relief that the surrounds will remain safe for our clients and horses."

Press Release May 1999:
Elly packed her bags and the circus followed!

There was great excitement recently when Elly Anstis and her livery customers and riding school ponies moved en masse to new premises at Silvermere Equestrian Centre in Cobham. 10 horses and 8 ponies all made the 2-mile journey together, arriving triumphantly to their new home in the extensive grounds of Silvermere Equestrian Centre. The horses now enjoy a full indoor livery yard and riders can take a hack in the extensive grounds, which are being developed to form a landscaped water course.

Elly Anstis, Manager of the centre, which also boasts a state of the art rubber surfaced school, said "I'm delighted to be settled in and that it all went so smoothly." She has reason to be proud, too, as all her customers opted to move with her to the new premises – not a feat many businesses have achieved. "We welcome adults and kids, from new starters to advanced riders for whom we can offer International name clinics".

Elly Anstis and her team are planning regular events.  It's fun, healthy and rewarding and may be a new way for you of keeping fit and getting some fresh air!
